Meet the “Otter”, a one-of-a-kind custom electric guitar that blends the raw energy of vintage student guitars with the refinement of a high-end custom shop instrument. Inspired by classic designs, the “Otter” elevates those roots with premium tonewoods, meticulous hand-finishing, and exotic pigments that create a stunning visual and sonic experience.

At the heart of this build is a carved figured Maple and deep red Padauk top, set against a single-piece Sapele back—a rarity in modern luthiery. The transparent nitrocellulose lacquer finish, rich in exotic pigments like Firefly Flakes and copper interference pearls, gives the guitar a dynamic, shifting copper sheen when viewed from different angles. This heirloom-quality finish highlights the natural depth of the woods while adding a touch of artistry that sets the “Otter” apart.

The neck is a fully refinished licensed Fender maple neck with a lacquered maple fingerboard and black dot inlays. Using the same pigments as the body, the black dots shimmer subtly under the light. The fully lacquered fingerboard, reminiscent of classic Rickenbacker necks, provides a smooth, glassy feel, enhancing playability and sustain.

Equipped with a single Seymour Duncan 59 Custom Hybrid (SH-16) high-output humbucker with coil-splitting, the “Otter” delivers everything from raw, punchy rock tones to dynamic, articulate cleans. This pickup choice stays true to the simplicity of vintage student guitars but adds a modern versatility that suits a wide range of playing styles.
